(Hours 167 & 168)
At 1356 today, I managed to save myself from a crossroad collision. An old man in a small black car had stopped on the give way line to my left and another to my right. I always slow down slightly just as I approach someone else's give way line just in case they don't stop. I don't know why, I just have this fear. Indeed it came in handy for most of the drive today 'cos everyone was just pulling out in front of me. But the worst was this old man. He stopped, but just as I was about to pass him, he moved out. I had to slam my breaks - hard! It was a shock to the senses and my heart was racing. I looked everywhere and the guy to my right was shaking his head. The "really old guy", (my Grey's addiction is kicking in again..) didn't even look at me once before he moved out, or as I was braking for that matter. I don't know what he was doing but he clearly didn't see us.
It seemed like I had a board on the roof today saying "pull out in front of me". He wasn't the first and he definitely wasn't the last. I'm just so happy it happened and I managed to respond on time. I remember many weeks ago I did not spot the mad cyclist. And as the clock continued to tick, more incidents happened but none as severe. I coped well with the road conditions today and I can only say I was surprised to see my driving almost spot on and every other drivers making a hash., it's usually the other way round...but maybe it's telling me something...I can do this.
