Driving Lesson #26
Wednesday, 29 October 2008 - 17:41
(Hours 50 & 51)I never knew you could actually find your biting point and move the car off with just the clutch... after all this time I have been doing it with the gas which is not essential.. finding the bite with just the clutch is so much easier and quicker! This is a big advantage if you are driving in a busy city centre since people won't have to wait long before you move from stopping at a traffic light or traffic in general.
Another bad habit I have been doing in the past few sessions is using the clutch and brake for my manoeuvres. This is a bad thing as the clutch fights with the brake and the car does not know what you want to do. Marks will be deducted in the practical test due to bad control of the car. A nice controlled car should involve the clutch and stops should only be made with the brake. The reason for the battle of the pedals is that I am using the brake to slow the car down.. the solution for this would be to dip the clutch.
Reach (for the cookies!)
Saturday, 25 October 2008 - 22:46
I was just a few steps away and had a sudden craving for cookies.. I burst into song as I looked up at them since they were placed high up to help me resist my temptation. Below are the lyrics we created for the new version of Reach. It's written by me and Josie again, we could be the next Beethoven...
When the leaves, make you feel green
You can count on treats, they will be there for you
When it seems, all those calories
Are piling on your waist, there's no need to worry
We've got to open that tin
Cookies, there for my stomach
Never ever forget that
I love cookies and cookies love me, so
Reach for the cookies
Climb every bar stool higher
Reach for the cookies
Follow your tum's desire
Reach for the cookies
And when the cookie's looking back at you
That's when your dreams will all come true
There's a cookie waiting just for you
It's a special cookie, makes your dreams all come true
Chomp away, to your heart's content
Fill that open mouth, leave the greens behind you
Don't stop gotta keep munching
Your mouth has gotta keep moving
Never ever forget that
I love cookies and cookies love me, so
Reach for the cookies
Climb every bar stool higher
Reach for the cookies
Follow your tum's desire
Reach for the cookies
And when the cookie's looking back at you
That's when your dreams will all come true
Don't believe in all that you've been told
Cos' you can still reach your weight watchers goal
No-one knows just what that tin can hold
There ain't nothing you can't eat
There's a cookie at your feet
I said reach
Climb every bar stool (reach)
Reach for the tin (reach)
Follow that craving
And your dreams will all come true
Reach for the cookies
Climb every bar stool higher
Reach for the cookies
Follow your tum's desire
Reach for the cookies
And when the cookie's looking back at you
That's when your dreams will all come true
Dreams can come true

This is a modified version of the lyrics to the song 'Dreams' by Gabrielle, it's composed by me and Josie... we created it while we were bored doing work and the lyrics represent Josie's feelings about recruitment and her job search for next year.
Dreams can come true
Look at me I'm better than you
You know you want to hire me
I'll be there Monday morn..
The Teeth of Doom VANISHED!
18:57
It was lunchtime. The sky was blue and the sun was shining..
We returned to the joke scene that was discovered almost 24 hours ago.. and with a shock, the teeth had vanished! All that remained was a patch of white that laid in replacement of the false white teeth. We chuckled in hysterics and began to make our sandwiches... I think we should swab the chair and send it off to forensics for sampling.
The Teeth of Doom..
Thursday, 23 October 2008 - 23:55

What an unpleasant surprise we all had today at the house... a pair of false teeth sat before us on the living room chair! We examined to see whether it would fall into the halloween fangs or foam sweet category.. but unfortunately, to our disgust it was a real pair and had even been used... residue was stuck to the side walls and food particles were lodged in between the acrylic teeth!
From the photo it looks cute, but up close it is really scary and has clearly been placed to attract attention.. I don't somehow believe someone can forget about their teeth during lunch hours and leave them in such a posed position in the centre of the seat.
Last One Standing Finale
Sunday, 19 October 2008 - 06:09
I really shouldn't be blogging at this time but what can I say? The series was a bit twisted but everything was well synchronised and I was laughing and talking to myself all the way through... it had me guessing most of the time and two of the chasing parts were extremely funny.. the first when 'Big One' turned around and said he didn't want Sing Hei to chase him anymore because he didn't want to run... maybe cos' he was tired, hence the character's name, but Hei had been running metres on end to catch his taxi.. imagine who's the tired one! The other was when the police force were after Yin and he jumped into the sea, the crew followed but stopped right at the surface... the effort in prosecuting him was minimal!
My heart fell to the ground when Yin dropped his 'Pretty Mother' on the floor.. obviously it would have only been a dummy but TVB stitched it up well, making it look like the real person... I was looking forward to it since I'd seen it on the next ep preview.. I know that sounds harsh but it's something fresh and it's something we haven't seen before. Everything from here led to a gripping plot, which I felt was lost in a few of the episodes just before. As this had happened, I felt that the director had worked well to connect the elements together with the beginning of the series and rounding it off with a cliff hanger.. I expected this too as I knew there was a sequel to be released and it was the only part of the trailer that was missing in the series... (Amy Wong is very skilful when it comes to linking - the same technique was used in Forensic Heroes II)
I could talk about this forever and there's so much I haven't included but I don't want to spoil it for those who are waiting to see it. I'd recommend it for anyone who likes revenge.. it's my third series of watching Roger portray a villain after Instinct and DIF IV.. quite weird as I'm used to him being nice, but he does it so well.. I think he might have the chance to steal the TVB Best Male Actor Award this year from strong competitors like Moses, Kev and Ray Lam. Of course I'd want Kev, but the media seem to be stripping him down lately..
Driving Lesson #25
Tuesday, 14 October 2008 - 22:52
(Hours 48 & 49)It was the turn for the night drive again and I was on the A51 heading up to Northwich.. I've got to say that the experience was very different and I actually got the real feel to driving at night since the night is falling earlier.. The heavy rain made life a lot harder as the roads became shiny and road markings were difficult to see..
A little voice sitting beside me asked me to go into 5th gear.. it took me by surprise as I have never been asked to go to 5th in the past. It was quite a struggle to find and I put it into 3rd slowing the car down dramatically on the highway.. the secret was to pull it out of 4th and drag it towards myself.. As obvious as it may seem, a lot of strength was needed to make sure I didn't go into 3rd again.
First impressions of the newly introduced gear were not so good as it's not that easy to find.. especially in the dark! Hopefully a few more drives on the highway will help me familiarise it's position.
Black Beauty
Saturday, 11 October 2008 - 22:58

I was astonished by the beauty of this motorcycle that somewhat looked like something belonging to the cops.. later I found it was just the decoration of the vehicle and the overdressing with mirrors and lights made this an outstanding piece of art.
Driving Lesson #24
Sunday, 5 October 2008 - 21:36
(Hours 46 & 47)The A55 plan was called off but it was a good thing since my run today was not the best.. the main problem was forgetting to drop my gears before driving onto a roundabout. The road markings for a 3-lane roundabout is very confusing and I'm not coping well with them either... Finding the correct lane to drive into for the desired direction can be difficult as the lanes may cross and changing lanes is quite frequent. I suppose that's the difference between driving in a quiet village and a busy city!
A long and windy country lane was also thrown into the course today which helped towards the experience of different roads. It wasn't anything I expected as I was preparing myself for the A55 which is completely the opposite since a constant speed of 20 keeps a good control. After the twists and turns to my surprise I was told to go over the steep weak bridge just like 'the woman in front'. I was amazed at how she managed to do it as I was almost clueless.. I slowly made it at the peak of the bridge and felt a little tilt before I actually managed to find my way back down to the ground.. Not being able to see what was going to come after the bridge was also fearful as the driving required guessing... it wasn't good to know that it was a weak bridge and the weight of the car was not the lightest!
The night drives are definitely more fun! I've booked in the next one during the dark hours to get a better feel of driving in poor lighting conditions. Hopefully it'll be a better drive than this one and I'll be writing with a face full of smiles like my last lesson.
